Tyne & Weir has produced some of the biggest names in the music industry, and here we introduce you to some of their stories of success. Have a read and discover their stories of success, we hope they inspire you.

The Animals The Animals were a rock band who had their success throughout the 1960s into the '80s. They first found fame in 1964 after success in the local music scene and moved to London, where their single "House of the Rising Sun" hit number 1 in both UK and US charts. They were very successful in the blues-rock genre and are also argued to have begun, or at least played a very big part in the boom of the blues genre in the music industry at the time.

Emeli Sande Emeli Sande is a hugely successful singer-songwriter who was born in Sunderland and spent her early years in the city. She climbed her way up the music ladder, singing at venues and having songs played on the radio, whilst also spreading her influence by supporting Coldplay on their Mylo Xyloto tour. Sande's breakthrough came in late 2011 when the single "Read All About It" from her debut album Heaven came in at number 1 on the UK singles chart. Sande had created success and kept working at it, performing at large venues around the UK before landing the deal of a lifetime - the opportunity to sing in front of billions of people on live television at the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. Sande's path to success proves that anyone really can build their way to international superstardom; they just have to work for it. This is something we at Singing Lessons Sunderland would like our students to remember.
